⚠️ Alpha — Privacy Guarantees Limited

During the alpha phase, there are no guarantees of data privacy or security. This policy describes our best-effort practices, not binding commitments. Do not input sensitive data into the demo instance.

Section 1

Alpha Privacy Disclaimer

AitherOS is in ALPHA. During this phase, there are NO guarantees of data privacy or security. This policy describes our intentions and best-effort practices, but they are subject to change and may not be fully implemented at all times.

If you require guaranteed data privacy or compliance with specific regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.), do not use this service until it exits alpha.

Section 2

What We Collect

We aim to collect as little data as possible. During the alpha phase, the following may be collected:

Basic server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps, user agents) for debugging and abuse prevention
Conversation data and prompts submitted through the chat interface — used exclusively for debugging and system improvement
Account information if you register (email, display name)
Error reports and crash data generated by the application

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. We do NOT run ads. We do NOT use third-party analytics trackers.

Section 3

Local-First Architecture

AitherOS is designed to run entirely on your own hardware. When self-hosted:

All data stays on your machine — no cloud telemetry, no phone-home
AI models run locally via Ollama — your prompts never leave your network
No API proxying through Aitherium servers
You control all data retention, backups, and deletion

This is a core architectural principle, not just a feature. Your data is yours.

Section 4

Demo Instance (demo.aitherium.com)

The demo instance at demo.aitherium.com is a SHARED environment hosted on Aitherium infrastructure. This means:

Anything you input (messages, prompts, uploaded files) may be stored on our servers
Conversations may be visible to the system operator for debugging purposes
Data may be shared with AI models (local Ollama instances) for processing
The demo may be reset, wiped, or taken offline at any time without notice
Do NOT input sensitive, confidential, or personally identifiable information into the demo

Section 5

Third-Party Services

The demo instance may use the following third-party services:

Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and tunnel for demo.aitherium.com (subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy)
GitHub — Public repository hosting and authentication (subject to GitHub's privacy policy)
Ollama — Local AI model inference (runs on Aitherium hardware, no data shared externally)

Self-hosted instances do not use any Aitherium-operated third-party services by default.

Section 6

Data Retention

During the alpha phase:

There is no guaranteed data retention period — data may be deleted at any time
Server logs are typically retained for 30 days, then automatically purged
Conversation data may be retained indefinitely for development purposes, or deleted without notice
Account data is retained until you request deletion or the alpha period ends

Section 7

Cookies & Local Storage

The Service uses minimal browser storage:

Authentication tokens — stored in cookies/localStorage to maintain your session
UI preferences — theme, layout, and tour completion status stored in localStorage
No third-party tracking cookies are used
No advertising cookies are used

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated at any time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
